Volvo Commits to Supply Thousands of Autonomous Drive Cars to Uber

Just recently, Volvo and Uber signed an agreement for tens of thousands of autonomous driving compatible vehicles to be produced and sold to the ride sharing company between 2019 and 2021. Volvo already produces semi-autonomous driving cars in the S90, XC90 and XC60 and this agreement only furthers the need for such technology.

The vehicles being developed are a base XC90 SUV. They will all feature the safety, technology and autonomous driving capabilities that allow for autonomous driving. Uber will then add their own self-driving technology to further improve the autonomous driving experience for their business. On top of this deal with Uber, Volvo is using this increase in production of the semi-autonomous XC90 and further developing their own self-driving vehicles for 2021.

With this deal in place, come 2020 you could find yourself being picked up with no one in the driver's seat, but you don't have to wait that long to experience everything the new Volvo XC90 has to offer. Instead, join us at Mitchell Volvo of Simsbury and we'll show you our entire selection of new XC90 models and take you out for a test drive in one today!
