What's New?
The V90 sticks to the Cross Country as its only model for the new model year and adopts a standard B6 hybrid powertrain. Despite reducing power from the previous model year, the 48-volt mild-hybrid system boosts torque and improves efficiency. Volvo enhanced your infotainment options in the new V90, replacing the Sensus Connect system with a Google Automotive-based system. Moreover, the USB Type-C ports replace Type-A ports in the new model, while headlight washer nozzles, a heated steering wheel, and a built-in compass are no longer available. The Park Assist Pilot feature is also gone from the new V90 as the driver-assistance system's sensors get an update.
Exterior Features
The new Volvo V90 is like the discontinued model except for slight adjustments that make it more rugged. It has the iconic Thor's Hammer design on its LED headlights that blend well with the grille bearing Volvo's updated iron mark. It also has standard 19-inch wheels, but you can choose the 20- and 21-inch options. At the rear, the new V90 has taillights with a welcome sequence, hidden tailpipes, and a rear spoiler. It measures 195.2 inches in length, 80.8 inches in width, and offers a wheelbase measuring 115.8 inches. As a result of the additional hybrid system, the new model is 58 pounds heavier, totaling 4,271 pounds for its curb weight.
Performance Features
The Volvo V90 has a new powertrain dubbed the B6, similar to the T6 layout. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system complements the supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine. It delivers an incredible 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, sent to an all-wheel-drive system via an eight-speed automatic transmission. As a result, the new V90 sprints to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds, making it one of the quickest family haulers. You will choose between various drive modes, including the Dynamic, Comfort, and Eco Mode. If you want to tow a trailer during your family trips, the new V90 will suit you well because it can handle a 5,291-pound towing capacity.
Fuel Economy
The new V90 expects an excellent fuel economy rating due to the small engine setup combined with a hybrid system. City driving results in an EPA-estimated 22 mpg while highway driving delivers 29 mpg. These numbers translate to a combined rating of 25 mpg.
Interior Features
As expected from a station wagon, the Volvo V90 has a spacious interior to accommodate up to five occupants in ultimate comfort. Front passengers will love the heated leather seats, while the rear-seat passengers will love the ample legroom and headroom that makes long road trips comfortable. It also has dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, power-adjustable heated front seats, and a hands-free power tailgate. An optional Lounge package adds four-zone climate control, massage functions, four-way power lumbar settings, and power cushion extensions for the front seats. Cargo space is ample in the new V90, measuring 25.5 cubic feet to accommodate your family luggage as you head for a trip. Folding the second-row seats increases the storage space to 53.9 cubic feet and lets you carry bulkier cargo.
Whether you are looking for an ideal family wagon for your occasional expeditions, the luxurious V90 is a great option. Besides highway dominance, the new Volvo V90 is a capable off-road vehicle suitable for adventurers seeking comfort and luxury during their explorations.
